Getting to Isla Mujeres

From Cancun International Airport take a van or taxi to Puerto Juarez.

From the Hotel Zone you can take a taxi or bus to Puerto Juarez.
If you want to go by bus, first you have to take a bus from the Hotel Zone to Downtown Cancun, where you can catch the "Ruta 1" bus to Puerto Juarez.
There are also boats departing from the Hotel Zone in Playa Linda, Playa Langosta and Playa Tortugas, but they only run five times a day and are a bit more expensive.

The express boat from Puerto Juarez only takes 20 minutes to get to the island. The boat runs every half an hour from 5:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. From 8:30 p.m. it runs every hour until 12:30 a.m. The cost is 35 pesos per person.

The Punta Sam Car Ferry is 5 miles north of Puerto Juarez. The ferry has space for 50 cars and two platforms (decks) for passengers. It is always crowded so it is wise to line up 30 minutes ahead of time if you are traveling by car. Prices for cars, trucks and trailers are posted at the ticket booth. The price for passengers is 15 pesos.
